Keogh's Cheese & Onion Crisps and their survey!

We all know from our crisp sandwich post that here at Dublin Gluten Free we're crisp fans.

My favourite flavour was Cheese & Onion and I sorely missed it when I realised I couldn't have it anymore. Bottom line is these crisps are TASTY!

We may possibly have tried a few sandwiches! The right one is with SuperValu bread and right is  from our Sainsburys trip.

Keogh's sent me a little information on this because apparently I wasn't the only one missing our traditional cheese and onion crisps. There was a survey and everything on it! Out of 255 survey participants on Survey Monkey the following are the results:

February 2014

77% OF COELIACS REVEAL FEAR OF MISSING OUT WHEN IT COMES TO
IRELAND’S FAVOURITE FLAVOUR, CHEESE & ONION

87% FIND IT DIFFICULT TO BUY PRODUCTS THAT ARE BOTH IRISH AND GLUTEN FREE

We all love to devour a bag of cheese and onion crisps and when they are enjoyed between bread, they taste even better! However, for those with gluten sensitivities, 77% reveal their fear of missing out when it comes to Ireland’s favourite flavour.

The survey was conducted by Keogh’s Farm to celebrate the launch of its new Gluten Free Dubliner Irish Cheese and Onion hand cooked potato crisp, the first gluten free cheese and onion crisp to be produced in Ireland. This is good news for the 87% of those following a gluten free diet who find it difficult to buy products that are both Irish and gluten-free.

Of those following a gluten free diet 83% said they find snacking occasions difficult and nearly half of respondents claim to always carry gluten free snacks with them so that they don’t miss out when socialising with friends. Of the 97% who purchase gluten-free crisps, 90% felt restricted with the choice of flavours available and 77% are missing cheese and onion, Ireland’s favourite flavour.

The survey also revealed:

Everyday foods such as breakfast cereals, breads and pasta (35.9%) top the list of foods most missed when following a gluten free diet followed by:

·       Savoury treats of crisps and pastries (27.45%)
·       Chocolate, cakes and other sweet treats (14.9%)
·       Limited menu choices at restaurants (12.16%)
·       Take away foods such as Chinese, Pizza, Fish and Chips (10.59%)

Just under half (48%) of participants sometimes avoid restaurants and parties where they find it difficult to stick to a gluten-free diet, with 19% avoiding these occasions altogether.

Nearly all participants (95%) said most of their time is spent looking for the gluten-free logo on snack packs, to ensure their purchase is suitable for their dietary requirements.

Well, there we have it! I freaking love crisps!
